Vintage Glass Tumblers

I know I have been neglecting you, blog, but I have just been so busy. Here is a new listing to tide you over.

 
These gorgeous vintage glasses were made by Libbey Glass company in 1969. This is the complete set. They are part of the Crown Collection. The delicate design is a gold partridge in a gold tree with gold pears and white enamel leaves. The rims all have gold trim. Perfect for a Christmas dinner party or holiday family dinners.

There is some wear on the gold. The last photo shows the glass with the least wear on the right, and the glass with the most wear on the left. Here is a link to the original advertisement.

Weird.

I updated some of my posts to make the pictures bigger, and it moved them to the front page of my blog. It also changed the date they were posted. What the hell.

This Looks Like Trouble

Dylan figured out how to pull up. We had baby proofed by putting everything out of her reach, but she can suddenly reach all of it again. I guess we will have to put it all even higher.  I know she is planning shenanigans.

I just found a new blog to crush on!

 

Skepchick is a great athiest/skeptic blog which speaks from an entirely female perspective. Here is how they describe themselves.

"Skepchick is a group of women (and one deserving guy) who write about science, skepticism, and pseudoscience. With intelligence, curiosity, and occasional snark, the group tackles diverse topics from astronomy to astrology, psychics to psychology."

Excellent. A blog full of intelligent women writing about things that I want to read about. Not that I don't love my craft, fashion and mommy blogs. I do! But it has to be intermixed with things that keep my brain active in other areas as well. Until now I had was Pharyngula, which is a great science and athiest/skeptic blog from a male perspective. I also had CNN and NPR as general news sources. I love adding a female perspective to this area. Kudos ladies!

Is It REALLY A Favorite?

I need some help fellow Etsians.

This candelabra has been favorited 25 26 times. A record for my new and mostly unseen store. It was also featured on a treasury and received numerous compliments. So why doesn't anyone want to buy it? Is it overpriced? I just don't get it. I'd love insight or advise on this issue.

Also, does anyone else ever look at the treasuries that make the front page of Etsy and wonder how they got there and not yours? Seriously. Look at the one that is there right now and then look at this. I know how arrogant that sounds. Whatever.

Dylans First Birthday

I slaved for hours making a 6 layer cake. Each layer was a different color of the rainbow. Did I remember to take a picture of it? No. But here is a picture of the inside of Dylans small cake. It was tie dye.

After she dove in a got it on her face, she looked up at all of us and puked. All over her cake. I think she was nervous about everyone paying so much attention to her at once. It was not exactly the first birthday I had expected, but it sure makes a good story! Here's the video. I'd skip to 1:50 in if I were you.

Advertising Humanism

I received a lapel pin today from the American Humanist Association. They recommend that I wear it on my shirt as a declaration of "I can be good without god." Nice thought, but I'm not really a lapel pin type of girl. I don't know many people who are. Maybe they should try bumper stickers. Anyhow, I thought I'd just take a picture and put it here.

New item listed on Etsy! It's an amazing vintage Gunne Sax dress made in the 70's. These were very popular and it's in great condition!

Preparations

Dylans 1st birthday is July 13th but we will be having her party on the 9th. It's not going to be anything big, but I want the decorations to be big. The theme is just rainbow. I want it to be freakishly colorful. I've been making tissue paper pom poms at work. I'm gonna put them everywhere.

It's gonna be great. Here's the cake I'm making.

Escape From Corporate America

I made my first sale on Etsy today! This is my first small step away from working a regular job towards supporting myself with something I actually like to do! Hooray!

More Etsy!

I listed a couple more things on Etsy. Please excuse the badly posed shots of me. I didn't have anyone else to model the scarves and I feel so awkward doing it myself. I'm not a "take pictures of myself posing" type of girl. Buy some stuff!

Fathers Day Pancakes

Dylan and I made pancakes for Nick for Fathers Day this morning.

Dylan had her first pancakes. Dylan sized ones, of course.

And we served daddy breakfast in bed.

Happy Fathers day Nick! You are a better dad than I could have imagined.
